auroral.

Aurorals are experiments inspired by the aurora, made by exposing a bare camera sensor to light sources at extreme angles. Processing uncovers faint, indirect traces of light, and familiar shades of green, blue, and purple—as well as others less commonly found in nature.

Though incomparable to their namesake, their creation is based on similar physical principles.
